Shrimp Welfare Project has been named one of Animal Charity Evaluators (ACE)’s 2025 Recommended Charities.
ACE, a leading nonprofit organization that uses evidence and reason to help people help more animals, spends several months each year evaluating animal charities to identify those that can do the most good with additional donations.
Through a rigorous evaluation process, ACE has identified and recommended charities that “donors can trust to create a large amount of marginal impact per dollar, effectively helping the animals who are among the most neglected,” said Elisabeth Ormandy, ACE’s Programs Director.
ACE’s charity recommendations are a go-to source for strategic giving decisions:
Since 2014, ACE has helped influence an estimated $59 million in donations and granted more than $8 million to its Recommended Charities.
ACE’s evaluation process involves several sequential stages and prioritizes animals that are highly neglected and suffer to the greatest extent, such as pigs, chickens, and shrimps.
Shrimp Welfare Project is a global NGO that guides the shrimp farming industry towards higher welfare practices for a more sustainable and ethical future. An estimated 440 billion shrimps are farmed each year — more than 5 times the total number of all land animals combined — making shrimp welfare an area of high impact, where your involvement can lead to great change.
“At Shrimp Welfare Project, we’re committed to using every donation efficiently to maximize our impact and advance meaningful welfare improvements for shrimps,” said Robin Goist, Communications Lead at Shrimp Welfare Project. “We’re honored to be named an ACE Recommended Charity, and as momentum for shrimp welfare continues to grow, we are grateful to every donor for helping us expand humane and cost-effective practices across the industry.”
This is Shrimp Welfare Project’s third consecutive year as an ACE Recommended Charity, having first received the distinction in 2022 as the fastest-ever charity to do so.

About Animal Charity Evaluators:
Animal Charity Evaluators (ACE) uses evidence and reason to serve people who want to help animals. Trillions of animals experience extensive but avoidable suffering on farms and in the wild, which motivates our team to contribute to a world where all animals can flourish regardless of their species. We work toward this by identifying where donations can best help animals and awarding grants to promising projects that help animals around the globe.
