Greetings from Shrimp Welfare Project! We are thrilled to announce that we have signed a commitment with the Ecuadorian shrimp producer Cofimar, and the Dutch seafood trader Klaas Puul and retailer Albert Heijn. This is the first agreement on humane slaughter that we have signed with a producer in Ecuador and with a buyer in continental Europe. As part of this collaboration, we will provide Cofimar with electrical stunning equipment, which will ensure that approximately 100 million shrimps per year are slaughtered as humanely as possible; and Albert Heijn and Klaas Puul are committed to prioritising stunned shrimps. We also launched the (Shr)Impact page on our website to track the impact of our work on an updated basis. Furthermore, we attended significant events of the shrimp industry and farm animal welfare movement to continue to advocate for shrimp welfare while strengthening and expanding our network with stakeholders. Finally, we are seeking Board Members! We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a board member, you will play a pivotal role in guiding and supporting our organisation's mission to improve the lives of billions of farmed shrimps.
